With the current storm damage it is hard to see the benefits from this and we see councils bleating about the costs, but doing little about it themselves; when in reality they could practise what they preach instead of banging out the same old agenda. Winds have caused many trees to fall so what do they do? call in a contractor to cut them up and use large diesel engines chippers to cut them into chips, why? isn't this suitable building material; why not collect it and take it to the nearest sawmill and let them cut it up into timber and sell it cheaply for our domestic market and cut the pollution of several ships bringing in timber from abroad and actually do something for their alleged climate agenda instead of blaming the public for it. Timber that is chipped can be transported to power stations as many of them actually burn timber chips which are bought in from Canada in large ships, but hey that can make all these claims about climate change and flout them without any retribution, so where are all these climate change activists now.

Many rivers have burst their banks and left huge quantities if river silt all over the country, so why aren't they collecting this and instead of putting it into landfill, putting it into compost as much of this river silt is superb for composts and uplifting soils, particularly on depleted soils such as the chemical filled and toxic growing mediums used on intensively farmed crops around the world, but the agenda comes into play again, do as I say and not as I do.

Because councils are ran by imbeciles...regarding silt I know of a canal that was dredged & the silt spread on a neighbouring field & it did wonders for it...the swans can't keep away from it either...they love it now obviously did some good for that field.

River and canal silts are often collected as they enter the sea and used in many commercial composts.
